Production Blog: Post card

Image
Hello bloggers! We are back with another blog and today I have exciting news to provide to you guys. As you guys may think that this blog is about the video, well your wrong. This blog will be about a new addition to this project which is the post card. As we were assigned to make a short film, we are also assigned to make a post card and a website. So to get this started we all met up at Starbucks once again. We love going to Starbucks since it's our study spot and it also helps me focus a lot. Anyways we all sat down and decided to work on the post card. We left the website for another day since it was going to be a lot and we got to Starbucks a little late. So for the post card we had to make sure to add the publish date of the movie. Then we had to include the productions which was JNC STUDIOS. Another information that we had to provide is different showtime dates which we made up. We also had to make sure that the picture in the post card matches the theme of our short film. S...

Production Blog: editing

Image
Hi Bloggers! Welcome back to another blog. In this blog i will be writing about our filming process. The editing its self was not hard at all. Since we did it last year, we had more experience with it. The only thing that stressed me out was iMovie. If you make one mistake, it doesn't let you go back. So if i messed up on one scene editing it, i would have to start editing that part all over again. Adding the music was also easy. The only thing i had to learn how to do better was the volume. Since the music is loud, whenever we start talking it has to get lower and slowly fade away. That was a little hard to do. But once i figured out how to do it, it made it sound a little better. Another thing that i did not know how to fix was the background noise. You can hear the wind and a lot of outside noises. It does not sound good. Also, our voices in some scenes are very low. I tried to do the best i could. It might not look the best, but i enjoyed doing it. Thank you bloggers, i will se...

Production Blog: Problem Solving

Image
Hello Bloggers! Welcome back. In this blog i will be talking about some problems we had during the filming process.  It was a struggle with the filming process. We had multiple complications and even got into arguments. One of the days that we filmed, it was chaotic. It was when we looked up the coordinates and went to the house where Nicholas was thrown in the pool. We had to film the scenes at that house multiple times. Everyone kept laughing. I started getting stressed out because i just wanted to get it over with and move on to the next scene. After so many tries on one scene, we finally got it. Another example was when we were outside and the truck went in front of the car. During those scenes, everyone started getting distracted and having side conversations. It was already getting very dark. So i started getting really frustrated because no one was listening and they kept laughing at everything. After all of this, we all had a conversation. We all came to an agreement ...

Production Blog: Spooky grounds

Hello Bloggers, we are back once again with another blog. As you all may notice the title already, it sounds creepy because today in this blog we'll be focusing on me and my groups experience filming in the cemetery. The fact that we had to film at a cemetery already gave me the shivers especially since it was going to be night time. As we were driving, we were planning on certain filming that we needed and lines that we had to memorize. Once we arrived we were contemplating if the cemetery was open or not but we saw an opening and we took it. We parked the car in this pathway and hoped out. Looking around made really scared because as I have never been in a cemetery before, it wasn't a nice first experience. Moreover, we began to film as we had Ethan who is the dad walk around with a flashlight and act like he was trying to find something. We had every scene down pretty well and got it done efficiently. The only big issue was the lighting since we had to film at night. Oth...

Production Blogs: Making changes

Image
Hey Bloggers! Welcome back. In this blog i will be telling you about some changes we made while filming. First, originally, my dad was supposed to play as the first cop that appears on one of the scenes. We had an inconvenience, so we had to figure something out. We went to the store and bought a fake mustache for nick to wear and play as the cop for that scene. Another change we made was when we filmed at the beach. Our original plan was to go near the ocean and look for sea shells until we found a chest. Well, while we were just all hanging out there, we explored and found an abandoned boat. We all got so happy because it would add a really good and cool scenery to our film. We changed most of that scene. Instead of finding the chest on the sand, we found it inside of the boat. Also, for the last scenes, we needed another 2 cops. I asked my dad and his wife if they could do it and they said yes. These might be small changes. We got really stressed out by all of this. But we alway...

Production Blog: First day Filming

Image
Hello bloggers! I hope everything is going well. I am back to share some news on the short film. Today me and my group decided that we would start filming. We hopped on a facetime call and we started sharing ideas on how we would start. Nick said that we should go to his house to film but we ended up scratching that plan off. After maybe 40 minutes of thinking about our decision we finally came to a choice. We would go to film at my house as it is generally close to a lot of places that would be useful for the filmmaking. So i got some ideas ready while i waited for them. We start by choosing which scene we would do first and we decided to do a scene where the friend group is waiting to be picked up. Then after that we would go to film everyone running to the car. This took more than one try since we all stumbled on each other twice but no one got badly hurt so it was okay lol. We then had to film everybody getting in the car as if we were about to go out. So we filmed Joao...

Production Blog: Back to work

Image
Hello bloggers! I hope you all are having an amazing day. So as you know from the last blog we were getting our ideas set up.  We also finished up around a quarter of our script for the scenes. So, today we decided that we would all work in the afternoon. So around that time we went to a local park so we could get some work done in a nice environment. The weather was nice so it  was perfect and we got straight to work as soon as we found a nice bench. So Joao worked on the script and got most of it done and left is about a quarter left before he got a bit tired. So after working we went to grab lunch since we were all hungry and needed a boost. We went to grab food and on the way there we saw an a memorial place and we instantly got an idea of one of our scenes. We decided that we would film one of our scenes at the cemetery. We were first a little hesitant on it but soon decided that we would eventually follow through with the plan to film there. We got out food and di...

Production Blog: Getting started

Image
Welcome back bloggers! I hope everything is good. As you may know, me and my group are working on a short film. It took us a lot of time to figure out what we wanted to film about. We had to make sure that whatever we decided to film, it would be reliable and that we could change things if we needed to. We also thought about what props we would need for the filming process. We figured out what clothes and props we needed to make it look very realistic. So when we decided on the roles we would play, we also thought about them matching our personality. For Joao, "PJ" in the film, is the nerdy guy, the guy that comes up with all the ideas. He is the smart one of the group. We thought he fit that role very well because everyone else in the group is very hyper. We were really stuck since Joao and Nick could both play the role and it was overall a pain to decide on who would play who. We stressed a lot trying to figure all of this out. We decided to go to starbucks to lock in on ou...
